More 5-star Google reviews after every job
A simple text and email request goes out when a job wraps up, so happy customers leave a review while the work is fresh. No awkward asks, and nothing that breaks Google's rules.
Why do Google reviews matter so much for contractors?
When someone searches for a contractor, the map results show your star rating and review count right next to your name. That's often the first thing people compare.
Reviews help in two ways:
- More people call. A business with many recent, detailed reviews looks safer to hire than one with a few old ones.
- You rank higher. Google counts reviews as part of how well known and trusted your business is, which is a big part of local SEO and Google Maps rankings.
Most contractors do great work and still have few reviews. The reason is simple: nobody asks at the right time, and customers forget. Once the reviews come in, they also belong on your contractor website, where they help turn visitors into calls.
How does review generation work?
Setup
I write your request messages and create a direct link to your Google review form.
Job finished
You mark the job done, or send me the customer's name and phone or email.
Request sent
The customer gets a short, friendly text and email with the link. One reminder goes out if needed.
You respond
New reviews show up on your profile. I help you reply to each one, good or bad.
- Requests in your voice. Messages that sound like you and mention the job, not a generic template.
- A direct review link. One tap opens your Google review form. No searching for your business.
- Reply templates. Quick, professional replies for 5-star reviews and a calm plan for bad ones.
- Monthly count. How many requests went out and how many reviews came in.
What does Google allow, and what gets you in trouble?
Some review tactics are against Google's rules or federal law. Here's the line.
| Practice | Allowed? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Asking every customer for a review | Yes | This is exactly what Google wants you to do. |
| Only asking happy customers | No | Google calls this "review gating" and its review content policy doesn't allow it. |
| Offering a discount for a review | No | Google bans incentives for reviews. |
| Buying reviews or writing your own | No | The FTC's rule on fake reviews took effect in 2024 and allows fines. |
| Replying to every review | Yes | It shows future customers you care, especially on a bad review. |
What can go wrong with review requests?
- Asking too late. A week after the job, the excitement is gone. Requests go out the same day.
- Too many reminders. More than one feels pushy. I cap it at one.
- Texting without permission. Customers should know you'll follow up by text. I help you add that to your quote or invoice.
- Ignoring bad reviews. A calm, helpful reply often matters more than the review itself.
Questions to ask any review service
- Do you send requests to every customer, or only happy ones?
- Who sends the messages, and from what number?
- Do I keep the customer list if I stop?
- How do you handle a 1-star review?
Review questions
Can I delete a bad Google review?
Only Google can remove a review, and only if it breaks Google's rules, like spam, a fake account, or someone who was never your customer. You can flag those for removal. For honest bad reviews, a calm reply that offers to fix the problem is the best move.
Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?
No. Google doesn't allow rewards for reviews, even if you don't ask for a positive one. A well-timed, simple request works without breaking any rules.
How many reviews do I need?
There's no magic number. What matters is how you compare to the businesses that show up above you in the map, and whether your reviews are recent. Part of the free site review is checking that comparison.
Do I need special software?
No. I set up the messages and direct review link for you. If you already use a scheduling or invoicing tool, the request can often be sent from there.
